About the Artist
Born on Miami Beach, Kim Foster began figure drawing weekly in high school. She attended Pratt Institute in New York, transferred to The London College of Printing in England and began her successful career as a graphic designer in Miami in 1975. By the late 1970s, she began painting the figure in oil. The paintings were large – some 36 X 48 inches and took at least 8 months to complete. Kim continued drawing from the figure every week using conte and hard pastels. Painting in watercolor replaced oil painting in the early 2000s when Kim had 3 young children, in addition to her growing graphic design business. Kim paints what she loves– people, pets, family and lately, flowers – in colors influenced by South Florida. To see more, visit Kim’s fine art website at kimfosterart.com.
